Poetry: Selections from S.F. Wright
She Dreams of Strangers
She dreams
Of strangers.
Her parents—
On the wall’s
Other side.
Job
To dislike your job is one thing;
To abhor it is another;
And nothing inspires hatred
Of your profession more
Than teenagers.
A few can be decent;
Most aren’t.
Quickly,
Your initial enthusiasm
Turned to apathy, disgust.
And they sense this,
Which breeds
Like feelings.
Those moments—
Inspiring someone,
Teaching someone—
Where are they?
In better schools,
Or maybe just
In movies.
You are in neither.
Inspiration
“Moments of genius”
Are like
Invisible
Spinning
Dust.
