Poetry: Flats by Tom Stuckey
Flats
there are some new but abandoned flats
by the sea where a friend lives
there was a dispute with the power people
and some shadiness with the developer
bunny rabbits have made it their home now
along with seagulls and vandals
wind howls through it day and night
and rust has set in with the exposure to the rain
one man committed suicide when he lost his life savings
to the developer who took off to Panama
one bunny rabbit stood upright against the wall by
the road blind and diseased
the waves crashed in as they always have done
and always will
Tom Stuckey is a poet from Devon, England.
