Poetry: Bookbag by Alex Rankin
Bookbag
thoughts of you
are heavy duty
solid rock
yet rich in precious minerals
sometimes I want to slit the bag
and spill the contents
so I'm weightless
air-filled
then I would only turn
to scoop up what's left
like a deranged schoolteacher
lugging a pile of bloody books
down the corridor.
Alex Rankin is a writer from Bristol, UK. He has always had a passion for writing fiction, but more recently discovered poetry. He is currently using the form to come to terms with a significant life event and hopes to one day put together a collection on the theme of loss and memory.
