Books to Bury Me With: Mr. Omar King
The book I’d want to take with me to the grave:
I'll never tell you!!!! I kid-I kid. AHAHAHAHAH! I am just pulling your leg. I'll tell you.... Last Exit to Brookly By: Hubert Selby, Jr.
The first book that hit me like a ton of bricks:
If Beale Street Could Talk By: James Baldwin. Read Pages 13 to 17 and more, and you will understand why.
The book that’s seen more of my tears, coffee stains, and cigarette burns:
Body To Job By: Christopher Zeischegg. Not only did this book make me cry, it made me laugh, and cringe, and grossed out (sometimes). And cheer for the guy. Man oh man, what a page turner.
The books that shook my world like a goddamn hurricane:
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas By: Hunter S. Thompson and A Confederacy of Dunces By: John Kennedy Toole.
The book I wish I’d discovered when my liver was still intact:
The Magician By: Christopher Zeischegg. Last time I checked, my liver is still intact, thank heavens. Love this book.
The book I’d shove into everyone’s hands if I were king of the world:
Last Exit to Brooklyn By: Hubert Selby, Jr and Creation: On Art and Unbecoming By: Christopher Zeischegg.
The book that nearly drove me to madness: The Metamorphosis By: Franz Kafka.
The book I can’t keep my hands off of, no matter how many times I’ve read it:
Story of the Eye By: Georges Bataille and Creation: On Art and Unbecoming By: Christopher Zeischegg.
The book I’d hide in the back of my closet, pretending I’m too highbrow for it:
Big Little Lies By: Liane Morriarty and Diary of an Oxygen ThIef By: Anonymous. They are still in my closet, as we speak.
The book that left a scar I wish I could forget:
The Hellbound Heart By: Clive Barker and Closer By: Dennis Cooper.
The authors who made me think, "Now that’s a soul in torment":
Christopher Zeischegg, Flannery O'Conner, Georges Bataille, Dennis Cooper, George Orwell, Clive Barker, Gillian Flynn, John Kennedy Toole, and Hubert Selby, Jr.
The book I’d get a tattoo of if I had the nerve: Last Exit to Brooklyn By: Hubert Selby, Jr.
The book that made me question everything I thought I knew:
1984 By: George Orwell.
The book that’s so damn good I’d never loan it out:
Last Exit to Brooklyn By: Hubert Selby, Jr. It is too damn good I just can't loan it out, even if my life counted on it.
The books that've been my companion through the darkest nights:
Sharp Objects By: Gillian Flynn and 1984 By: George Orwell and If Beale Street Could Talk By: James Baldwin. These three books were good companions during my formative years in High School.
The book I’d throw in someone’s face during a heated argument:
New Millennium Boyz By: Alex Kazemi. At least it is useful.
The books that remind me of a lost love or regret:
Pet Sematery By: Stephan King and Mrs. Dalloway. Lost love for Dalloway and regret for Pet Sematery. Read those books and you will understand.
The books I wish I could have written, but know I never could:
Violent Faculties By: Charlene Elsby and Coyote By: Max Restaino and In Your Dreams By: Thomas Moore and Troll By: Dave Fitzgerald and METH-DTF By: Shane Jesse Christmass and Requiem for a Dream By: Hubert Selby, Jr. There are so many books, believe me, but six titles should give you an idea.
The book that makes me want to drink myself into oblivion:
New Millennium Boyz By: Alex Kazemi.
The book that’s been my refuge from the world’s cruelty:
A Confederacy of Dunces By: John Kennedy Toole.
